About Me
Radical Radiator Repair

I had a car a few years ago that seemed to always have one problem after another. Finally, I got tired of paying for repair after repair, knowing that I was just going to end up paying again in a month or so. I wanted to save up for a better car, but I couldn’t do it if I was always paying the mechanic. So the next time that my car started overheating, I decided to fix it myself. I bought some tools, checked some books on car repair out of the library, looked up answers to my questions online, and pulled parts from old cars at the junkyard. And eventually, I fixed it. You can fix your own car problems too. I started this website to help people who are trying to learn how to be their own mechanics. If I can do it, you can do it.

How To Improve The Performance Of Your Vehicle

Bobbie Jones

Your vehicle is one of the largest investments you will make other than your home. When it comes to making a great investment, you don't make it during the purchase. If you want to get the most for your money, you are going to have to invest in the maintenance and upkeep of your vehicle. A small investment could end up saving you lots of money later on.

Make Sure Your Mechanic is Certified

Obtaining a great relationship with an ASE certified mechanic is a great start to ensuring your vehicle runs efficiently and lasts longer. An ASE certification is granted by the National Association of Service excellence. It certifies both the mechanics and the shops. If you see the shop advertise that it is ASE certified, you can feel confident they have passed several exams and performed at least 2 years of on-the-job training; this is required of anyone who wants to be ASE certified.

Regular Maintenance Checks

When it comes to keeping your vehicle running at its best, you certainly don't want to skip your regular maintenance checks. In order to know how often to take your vehicle in for maintenance, you can find this info outlined in your car owner's manual. Typically, you should take your vehicle in every 30,000 miles to have it looked at, but you don't want to stop at just those checks. You should also take your vehicle in for oil changes and filter changes regularly. This should be done at least every 3,000 miles or 3 months depending on what comes first. During the oil change, your mechanic should also check your filters and other fluids to see if they need to be topped off.

Don't Ignore Your Sensor Lights

When you see that sensor light pop up on your dashboard, the last thing you should do is ignore it. This could of course be nothing, but you don't want to put off a problem that could worsen. Many mechanics will perform a free diagnosis to see what is going on with your vehicle if you get it fixed by them. Take advantage of this service to find out what is happening. You can even get a second opinion if you don't feel confident about the first diagnosis. By driving a vehicle knowing something is wrong with it, you are not only putting yourself in danger, but you are putting your passengers in danger as well.
